In the very center of the city, on the shore of Šakiai Lake, there is a monument to Vincas Kudirka. It was built where V. Kudirka lived and treated patients. V. Kudirka lived in Šakiai from 1890-1895. He did not like his profession, so he devoted most of his time and energy to creativity, national movement and cultural activities. Kudirka's residence became a hiding place for banned books.
Dr. V. Kudirka's monument was unveiled in 1998, commemorating the 140th anniversary of the birth of Vincas Kudirka, the author of the "National Anthem". The author of the monument is sculptor Stasys Žirgulis.

Klaida
2024-03-09 "Savo profesijos nemėgo". Nesąmonė. Vykstant į Krymo santorijas, gydytojauti pakvietė Staugaitį. Grįžęs, įtikino V. Kraševskienę parduoti nugyventą dvarą ir nusipirkti Vladislavove (dabar Kudirkos Naumiestis) sankrovą. Taip vadino parduotuves. Ten ir apsigyveno. Toliau gydytojauti neturėjo sveikatos.
